I grew up in the West. I love being outside in wild, beautiful places. I also love making beautiful things. Somewhere along the line I learned that when exploring special landscapes with a camera, good things can happen. Over time my approach has evolved to include some questions: How do I simplify the landscape toward abstract beauty without losing a tangible sense of place? How do I elicit a sense of mystery and wonder without romanticizing and falling into cliche? My pictures are the result of this open-ended process.
